Great News for the Reserve - the new Primrose Pathway

If you've walked into Primrose recently, you'll have seen work has started on our new pathway — linking the reserve to Greenacre Street, so people can walk between Primrose and the centre of Clitheroe without crossing a major road. This will be the reserve's fourth entrance.

The project has been made possible by a grant from Ribble Valley Borough Council, aimed at opening the reserve up to more of the community — and we're very grateful for it.

Surfacing takes place next week, with the path expected to open shortly after 10th September. It's been a tight build window to get this done, but we're on schedule.

The path is being built for disabled access — suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters — so it'll offer a genuinely accessible green space for anyone who wants a safe, peaceful place to walk.

A reminder as we welcome more visitors: Primrose is owned and run by a charity, kept going by donations, fundraising, and — above all — volunteers who turn out every week to clear the site and cut back brambles. Please take your rubbish and your dog mess home with you. Leaving bagged dog waste in the bushes for our volunteers to retrieve isn't fair on them. A community asset only survives if the whole community takes ownership of it, so it can be passed on to the next generation.

The support we've had from the community so far has been terrific, and we want to keep it that way.

Funding a project like this, getting planning permission, and delivering the build all take real skill and effort. Huge thanks to our unpaid trustees — and to John Milne in particular, who has overseen the construction — and to every volunteer who's made this possible.
